French-Inspired Early Spring Capsule: 10 Pieces, 10 Outfits

Early Spring is a transitional time when we start to move on from Winter’s heavy layers. An early Spring capsule wardrobe pulls together a small collection of versatile pieces that can be worn together in a variety of different ways. This makes getting dressed easier and can simplify packing when you’re travelling.

In this early Spring capsule, I’ve created 10 outfits using 10 French-inspired staples that range from everyday outfits, slightly more elevated combinations and four outfits that are tailored city-chic looks.

So, if you like the idea of creating a simple yet chic wardrobe this Spring, these outfit formulas will give you a French-inspired starting point. This capsule contains 2 pieces of outerwear, 3 base layers, 2 bottoms, 2 pairs of shoes and 1 accessory.

You’ll notice that I’ve included two different denim washes: a dark denim wash and a vintage wash. This gives you a chance to see how each wash changes the overall look of the outfit so you can decide which one works best for you.

1. Casual French Basics

The first three looks use six capsule pieces to create casual and relaxed outfits. They are comfortable, but still polished and perfect for running errands, visiting cafes or casual weekends.

2. Elevated Casual

The next three outfits use six capsule pieces. They create outfits that are refined, but not overdressed. A classic button-down and a lightweight knit elevate, while denim keeps things practical. These outfits are perfect for daytime social plans, casual meetings or mixed movement travel days.

3. Polished & City Chic

The final four outfits use seven capsule pieces and lean into more tailored silhouettes. A black trouser keeps each look polished, while the remaining pieces keep things understated and create that French “chic” look. These outfits can be worn to the office, dinners or on days in the city when you need to wear something a little more refined.

Each outfit is practical, comfortable and appropriate for everyday city life or travel.

I hope this gave you a little outfit inspiration. Which look is your favourite?
